Workplace Charging Scheme

The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) have introduced a variety of grant schemes to aid with the installation of the electric vehicle charging infrastructure nationwide as millions of UK vehicle drivers are set to make the change to EV.

What is the Workplace charging scheme grant?

The Workplace charging Scheme (WCS) Grant is focused on workplaces, small accommodation businesses/ charities and owners of commercially let properties. This is to enable a smoother transition and planning for the infrastructure of electric vehicle charge points in this area of work. The £350.00 offset of the cost towards the installation can be claimed on behalf of businesses and workplaces subject to the minimum eligibility criteria.

Landlords & social housing providers

A grant of up to £350 is available per socket.
A maximum grant of up to £14,000 is permitted.
Each applicants must be registered with Companies House or have a VAT registration.
Workplaces must be able to provide private parking reserved for staff or fleet use only.

Small accommodation owners and charities

A grant of up to £350 grant is available per socket.
A maximum grant of up to £14,000 is permitted with a limit of 40 applications.
Applicants must be a registered charity or, if an accommodation business, employ less than 250 employees
Accommodation providers and charities must be able to provide off-street parking but staff and visitors are permitted to use the charge points.

How do I apply?

If you are claiming for a workplace, small accommodation business/ charity or owner of commercially let property, you will need to create an account on the Government OZEV department portal. This allows you to give all the relevant information such as your premises address, property type, amount of charge points needed and business information.

You will then receive an OZEV authorisation code and reference number subject to meeting the minimum eligibly criteria and initial checks. You can forward this to your chosen installation company who will then use this code in your application towards the OZEV grant.
