  • Level 3 DC fast chargers are the quickest charging option for electric vehicles. These stations can provide up to 80% charge in as little as 30 minutes, making them ideal for long journeys or quick top-ups.
  • Level 4 chargers can provide 1 MW of power. In 30 minutes, they can increase the range of a 500 kWh battery by 400 miles!

How long does charging an electric car with a 3-pin plug take? 

If you're using the standard cable that came with your car, you'll get 1 to 2 kilowatts per hour of charge. That translates to around 5 to 11 extra miles of range for every hour you're plugged in. It's not fast, but it works in a pinch.

To go from a 20% charge to 80%, it will take you 15 to 20 hours with a standard 3-pin cable. That's enough to top up overnight or while you're at work.
