Overview
The Audi A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e shares it's powertrain with plug-in hybrid versions of the new Volkswagen Golf and Skoda Superb.
So you get the usual 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine at 148bhp, combined with an electric motor integrated into the six-speed twin-clutch automatic gearbox. The 40’s e-motor makes 107 bhp, so the combined output is a stout 201bhp and 258 lb ft.
There is also a Sportback '45' TFSI model that's been released with slightly more bhp output. The Audi A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e is rechargeable in around 2 hours from a home 7kW EV charger.
