Overview
The Volkswagen GTE makes for a greener stamp in Volkswagen's sports-hatch range adamantly. It compacts a turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and gearbox-mounted electric motor that bellows through a six-speed DSG gearbox.
It's a great family car, being sporty, compact and comfortable styling. This plush plug-in hybrid still gives a familiar experience thought the cross over should help in making the break from ICE (internal combustion engines).
The 13.0kWh battery offers up to 39 miles of pure electric range compared to the previous model of 9.0kWh. The Volkswagen GTE is rechargeable in around 3 hours from a home 7kW charger.
